About Us

DJ in a club

The University of Limerick DJ society was setup in October of 2004 by 4 students who each shared an obsession with music. They setup decks in the scholars courtyard on a cold & windy afternoon and started playing tunes in the hope that some of their fellow students also shared their passion for music.

The general idea is to promote DJing to the whole of Limerick city rather than just the UL student population. The main form of this promotion is performed by running fortnightly workshops which cover all aspects of electronic music, from basic mixing on turntables and CDJ's to digital DJing and music production. On every alternate week, members are allowed to book the use of the societies equipment to practice and 'mess around'. At the moment, this consists of 2 x Technic 1210 Mk2's and an Allen & Heath Xone62. We will be purchasing Pioneer CDJ 1000's in the coming months which will complete the full club setep.

Digital DJ

For members who are looking for an opportunity to play in a club enviroment, we offer them the ability to promote themselves by hosting an online profile on our website. The profile system allows members to upload mixes & files with tracklistings and to add links to other websites (such as myspace, bebo etc). If we like a members mix, we offer them a slot at our weekly residency in Trinity Rooms, it's called PHONO and runs every Wednesday night from 10pm during the UL Semester.

You don't need to have any experience in DJing to join the society, many of our members knew nothing other than that they were interested in it before joining. In fact, a passion for music is the one quality that every one of our members has and if you're the same - why not Join Us?
